ABOUT
ANNA CEEH (*Leningrad/ USSR) and IV TOSHAIN (*Sofia/ BG) are both visual artists who have studied together at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In the same time they are independant curators and female activists. Aside from numerous national and international exhibitions, they have launched independent and innovative art formats such as: symposia / events / festivals / independent art fair / exhibitions with an international cast in Austria and abroad (Bulgaria, Belarus, Slovakia, etc., see CV), which they have fully executed, curated, organized, conceived, designed and graphically relayed.
The Austro – Russo-Bulgarian artist duo XXXXi̶s̶m̶TC is well known for their subversive site specific installations and Red Square Guerilla Performance. They cooperated with several amazing artists among others Carolee Schneemann, VALIE EXPORT, Marina Abramovic, Carsten Nicolai, Lawrence Weiner, Kendell Geers.
The art label FUCKi̶s̶m̶TC operates under many monikers, including FEMINi̶s̶m̶TC, FXXXi̶s̶m̶TC, XXXXi̶s̶m̶TMC, and SUCKi̶s̶m̶TC, which change continuously according to the artists involved and the concepts they focus on. The group has tackled issues like transpolitics, deconstruction of social hierarchies, challenging power structures, peace, and feminism among others. Over the last few years, the Vienna-based duo of Anna Ceeh and Iv Toshain collectively known as XXXXi̶s̶m̶TC, have staged an anti-war performance art project, МИР – МИРУ – FRIEDE (Peace) at the Red Square in Moscow 2018.
The performance was also staged at the Venice Biennale, the world’s largest arts festival, to bring more awareness to their artistic call for peace.
