FEMINi̶s̶m̶ TC
CURRENT
The Austro - Russo-Bulgarian artist duo FUCKismTC, well known for their subversive site specific installations and Red Square Guerilla Performance, will show a brand new work in Portugal named FUCKismTC: КОНФЭШН ("confession / con-fashion" written with Cyrillic letters). The performance is based on the project БАЙХТЕ (@Charim Galerie, Vienna 2013), where they cooperated with several amazing artists among others Carolee Schneemann, VALIE EXPORT, Hans Ashley Sheirl.
The performance MARK 1 circles around a pink suite. Made by the Haute-Couture label Jacquemus it is worn by a Ex topless stripper, pacing around the room. On the back of her Suit as well es on the front of her mini skirt two hidden messages become visible and therefore only readable with an infrared night vision device. One part of a slogn is referring to Michelangelo’s iconic Pietà, where Madonna bemoans her son’s deaths, contrasts the second part, that presents a murder weapon acting as a dildo. Anna Ceeh dismantle in her slogan a german word in canon in vulva. The visitor here in the role of a voyeur, becomes part of the artwork and in its participative performance process. Fashion is signifier and medium of communication at the same time. MARK 1 demonstrates its pro-active potential and uses destruction as a form of recreation.
The latest illegal FUCKi̶s̶m̶TC poster action has just taken place at MANIFESTA 12 in Palermo. The art duo Toshain and Ceeh plastered posters of their MANIFESTO around the city, criticising well-established art formats of representation, stylized as omnipresent, whose democratic power has become illusory, with nothing to gain except death itself.
They assimilated their performance into one of MANIFESTA 12's main topics called "co-existence."
On the eve of the celebration of the anniversary of the Second World War, one of the biggest holidays in Russia, the activists from the Austrian art-label XXXXi̶s̶m̶ TOSHAIN/ MAKOWSKY/ CEEH publish the information about the performance they have recently executed right on the Red Square - they stood with provocative slogans for peace! Ten people dressed in civilian clothes with armored vests arranged in a row just a few minutes before being arrested. On the vests with invisible paint, specified later by the organizers as a special military paint used only in the United States, artists from various conflict spots around the world share their messages for peace. The hidden texts can only be seen through a dedicated infrared device. Among them are slogans like “GO BOMB YOURSELF” by the Afghanistan artist Ammanulah Mojadidi, "HE KILLS ME, HE KILLS ME NOT" by Parastou Forouhar from Iran, whose parents were killed by the regime, the Russian artist and activist persecuted and living in the United States fighting for the rights of homosexuals, Slava Mogutin with "LOST BOYS", the German artist Olaf Nicolai and his "KEINE HEIMAT (I have no Homeland)", the american artist Lawrence Weiner "HERE TODAY, HERE TOMORROW" and others.
XXXXi̶s̶m̶ TOSHAIN/MAKOWSKY/CEEH presented the anti-war performance “МИР – МИРУ – FRIEDE” in cooperation with MOTA -Museum in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška, Slovenia, at 15th of dezember during the opening of the exhibition "The War", which showed internationally acclaimed authors and works by Otto Dix.
Process terminus starts from the premise that destruction is in itself creativity, and the performative act that implies the physical action necessary for reducing the chosen work to its zero moment is, in fact, constructive. Sandwich assumes the role of an art sanitarium and applies an ecology of ideas. Not only it encourages the destruction of things that are no longer desired, but offers space for new projects, it liberates and creates support for new concepts. Moreover, the project discusses attachment and renouncement to one's own ideas, images, objects.
MOTA – MUSEUM ON TOUR AUSTRIA, developed as a hybrid between museum and artwork, presents “МИР – МИРУ – FRIEDE” in cooperation with the art-label XXXXi̶s̶m̶TOSHAIN/ MAKOWSKY/ CEEH (Sofia – Vienna – St. Petersburg).
The collective has set themselves the goal of sending out a message of peace to the world and has invited a number of international artists to create a slogan - among them Lawrence Weiner, Olaf Nicolai, Parastou Forouhar and Kendell Geers.
The radical representation of this conflict is enhanced in the “FUCKi̶s̶m̶” manifesto by Anna Ceeh and Iv Toshain - a sincere call to reject all the different brands, tags, and autonyms and to initiate independent artistic activities outside the existing institutional rules and procedures.
MOTA - Museum On Tour Austria, developed as a hybrid between museum and art work, is showing "МИР - МИРУ - FRIEDE": a performance series at the city public spaces by the art label XXXXi̶s̶m̶ TMC.
Focusing on the ongoing International crises, shifts in religious and political power as well as armed confrontations, the collective has set themselves the goal of sending out a message of peace to the world. The messages are written on T-shirts worn by soldiers and can only be seen with a night-vision device. Experience it - how the moving immaterial art space appears!
"Art is Personal. We made this Guerrilla Art / Vendetta Performance to question curatorial self-representations, institutional power and hierarchies; extending the established status quo of artistic concept and space."
FUCKi̶s̶m̶ Toshain / Ceeh counteract the branding concept of the Kunsthalle, as their emblem logo bears all areas of the Viennese art world, with a counter- branding: Nicolaus Schafhausen (curator and director of Kunsthalle Vienna) is stamped, or at least his portrait poster, which now bear the stamp of FXXXi̶s̶m̶ in an edition of 750 pieces. This gesture is only a part of the FXXX performative installation, questioning curatorial self-representation and power,
It refers to a change in the art field, which in the last 15 years has led to a production division of the curatorial, with their own training courses, institutionalized form, media and discussion forums.
The complex relationship between artistic and curatorial autonomy, questions of power and access to resources, as the practices of marketing and branding, which now both sides- artists and curators concern, must be renegotiated."
Your mind finds inspiration as your body creates, generating works of art that are given limits by your galleries. Your work embodies the limits of your perceptions dictated by moral, spiritual, physical, economic, cultural and political constraints. In the battleground of your body expressing itself as an artist, how would you give expression to an ecstatic state of being that runs naked down the street with the words “Eureka” on your lips ?
The exhibition that I would like to invite you to be part of is conceived as a protest song in which the body is the celebrated.
XXXXi̶s̶m̶TC has been invited by the avantgarde art fair PARKFAIR to develop togheter a radical concept and site specific installation that is tailored to this years specific exhibition space - the Hall of Honor (Ehrenhalle) inside the Outer Castle Gate (Äußeres Burgtor) at Vienna’s Heldenplatz.
On May 17, two days after Kunsthalle Wien had opened the exhibition „Attention Economy", we responded with our guerilla performance "Attention Economy 2" a public statement addressed to Kunsthalle Wien, which had exploited our artistic concept.
